What we do
Patti Snook - Chair
I have been a trustee since September 2020 but I have been associated with Bushy Leaze for much longer.
I was a teacher in early years for 30 years and had the privilege of being Head of Centre at Bushy Leaze from 2010.
I know how valuable the Family Support team is, and what a difference their support makes to the lives of very young children and their families, which is why I was instrumental in setting up the charity in 2016. We couldn’t stand by and let the Children’s Centre close.
I am delighted to see and support the team growing in strength and expertise. It is very satisfying to know we are helping to make a difference.
Bushy Leaze Family Support
BLFS raises money to pay for the services the Family Support team at Bushy Leaze Children and Families Centre provides. Our funding covers costs of staff, activities, courses and events. The service is designed to help families in our community in times of need.
We provide funding to pay for qualified, experienced staff to provide targeted and evidence based support to families with children aged 0-5. We also raise money for equipment and resources to make the sessions fun and educational.
All sessions provided at the Centre are designed by professionals who know the best way to provide support to vulnerable families. The charity and the Family Support team work hard to ensure that the service is inclusive and non-judgemental.

How we make a difference
National data tells us that lockdown has left a legacy of isolation in families and the number of school children facing mental health issues has risen. We gather information from a variety of sources to help us inform our practices, so we can provide the best services for the families we support. We review data from Hampshire County Council and other local sources. We provide funding for the Family Support Team at Bushy Leaze Children and Families Centre so that they can continue to develop programmes providing additional help to parents, carers and guardians of families with children under 5.
We support vital services for the Family Support Team at Bushy Leaze Children and Families Centre. The money we raise allows them to offer over 250 group sessions each year to help families who need additional support. These sessions help families dealing with isolation, anxiety, financial challenges and family crises. They provide a safe place to visit and opportunities to develop vital friendship networks. The team can offer additional, specialist support and refer to other agencies depending on individual needs. Find out more about the services they offer Bushy Leaze Children and Families Centre
